Commissioned by the Digital Museum of Digital Art (DiMoDA), Double Zero explores colliding personal and political histories, subjectivity and catastrophe culture. Participants begin roughly six inches tall on a giant roulette table in an abandoned casino. Cassette recordings of live radio from Nixon’s 1974 resignation
accompany a haunted and surreal and alternate universe frozen in time at the brink of a volcanic disaster.
The title Double Zero references [00], a pocket found exclusively on American roulette wheels which grants the casino house a slightly greater advantage over the player. Roulette is a game of pure chance involving no skill unless the house is cheating.
