A broken metal surfboard doubles as a shattered mirror. The board's design is based on The Silver Surfer, a space-faring comic book anti-hero from the late 1960's whose philosophical pulp narrative hinges on fantasies of colonialism, patriarchy, omnipotence, and the romantic impulse to encompass the cosmos. The Surfer wields the "Power Cosmic” and his board permits travel through time, space, and hyperspace.
