Double Zero explores layers of mediated political and personal histories. Participants begin on a giant roulette table in an abandoned casino. A volcanic eruption opens a magic portal to a bluescreen realm populated by industrial detritus, meteors, lava flows, and live radio recordings of Nixon’s resignation, recorded by the artist’s father and brother on a road trip in 1974. The title Double Zero references [00], a pocket found exclusively on American roulette wheels. [00] grants the casino house a slightly greater advantage over the player, to increase profits. Roulette is a game of pure chance and it involves no skill, unless the house is cheating. Commissioned by the Digital Museum of Digital Art (DiMoDA).
